Legacy fundraising DeinAdieu compared to moribono AG and “Allianz für das Gemeinwohl”

Swiss providers like DeinAdieu, Allianz für das Gemeinwohl and moribono AG claim that they make legacy marketing easier with their services. In a comparison of their services, it is clear that one provider stands out for providing the most comprehensive services.

This is what it’s all about:

  • The comparison of the websites and services shows that DeinAdieu.ch has the most website visitors and the highest search result ranking for the search term “Write a will”. It offers the will generator at an affordable price, CRM connection, webinars and widgets on lead generation for the organisations’ websites.
  • One Swiss association and two companies promise members and subscribers useful services relating to digital legacy marketing. A comparison of these offers shows that according to Zewo in Switzerland, the leading online legacy platform DeinAdieu offers the most comprehensive service.

According to information provided by the company, DeinAdieu is “the first Swiss online portal for an autonomous end of life”.

The offer by moribono.com is “specialised in the development of web applications on Swiss inheritance law and the new Adult Protection Act”.

“Allianz für das Gemeinwohl” aims to “create conditions which enable a significantly larger share of inherited assets to be left to the charitable sector than at the moment.” In order to achieve this, “the association raises awareness amongst the public with a digital campaign and generates contacts for the organisations.”

But how do you choose? Which (digital) solution do you go for?

As part of software evaluations, fundraisers inevitably ask the question: Which legacy marketing platform should I use to efficiently and cost-effectively win over legacies and inheritances for my organisation? This comparison article provides answers to this question and looks at the three previously-mentioned Swiss providers of legacy marketing solutions. As well as digital solutions, they also offer offline services, like events and legal advice.

DeinAdieu.ch is one of the two most important platforms for NGOs

Interesting fact: When NGOs or charitable aid organisations are looking for online platforms operated by third parties, they primarily look at platforms which seem promising for them in terms of contributions from funding organisations or legacies from inheritances. For aid organisations in Switzerland, the key platforms are the charity platform Fundraiso.ch and the legacy marketing portal Deinadieu.ch.

Traditional crowdfunding and donation platforms like Kickstarter, Givengain, Crowdify, Wemakeit or Spendenbuch are not significant to most aid organisations on the other hand. They are targeted at receiving individual donations. This is demonstrated by a study by the Swiss foundation ZEWO called “Digital Donations 2021 (PDF)“.

You can find the ZEWO study on digital donations here

The ZEWO study proves that, in 2020, the 267 aid organisations in Switzerland taking part in the study received more than double the number of donations via their own websites compared to before the COVID pandemic. As such, digital fundraising is becoming increasingly important in Switzerland and an organisation’s own website is an important tool for collecting donations and legacy fundraising.

Huge potential in the field of legacies and inheritances

Swiss aid organisations received 2.05 billion Swiss francs in donations in 2021. This is demonstrated by ZEWO’s statistics. Of this amount, 220 million francs came from legacies and inheritances left to organisations with a ZEWO seal. 220 million sounds like a lot of money. But the Swiss professor of economics, Marius Brülhart, from the University of Lausanne estimates that the Swiss population leaves behind about 95 billion francs a year in legacies when they pass away. Well below one percent of these legacies are left to Swiss aid organisations. With the right online platform, aid organisations can make use of this potential to win legacies and inheritances cost-effectively and without having to invest much time and effort. But which portals should charitable organisations choose?

The visibility of a legacy marketing platform online is the key factor.

Digital legacy marketing is about the online visibility of a platform. Only platforms reaching high numbers of visitors are an attractive place to generate new donation leads for charitable organisations. An analysis of website visitor figures using the statistics tools Google Analytics and Similarweb.ch shows that:

  • DeinAdieu stands out in the comparison of providers with over a million users per year (see table).
  • Allianz für das Gemeinwohl reaches less than 5000 visitors a month according to Similarweb data.
  • The campaign website weiter-wirken.ch also operated by Allianz is not shown on Similarweb due to its visitor numbers being too low.
  • The moribono website is also not listed on Similarweb.ch . However, one thing is clear with moribono: website visitors primarily access their online tools via the customer websites.

Complex price comparison

PriceFrom CHF 1900 per yearFrom CHF 990 per yearFrom CHF 4000 per year

In a direct price comparison, at first glance, Allianz für das Gemeinwohl appears to come out on top with the lowest “starting price” of 990 francs. This price only applies to relatively small organisations with a total turnover of up to a million francs. Organisations with a total turnover of up to 10 million francs pay an annual membership fee of 3850 francs. When comparing the platform prices, you should also consider the costs in relation to the visitor figures, which can be reviewed independently. That’s because a high level of online visibility comes at a price. Lots of visitors to a platform also means a high lead generation potential.

But what do the competitors charge? moribono AG provides its online software to NGOs and banks and insurance companies starting from 4000 francs a year. moribono CEO Nicole Strausak comments: “The digital tools are integrated directly into the website and adapted to the customer’s design and other requirements. The inheritance calculator, also known as the will calculator, is particularly popular for legacy marketing. As well as an individual calculation of the legal shares and freely available portion, it generates an evaluation PDF including a will template for the next steps.” Other digital moribono tools include the legacy calculator, which calculates your inheritance assets taking into account property law, and a power of attorney configurator. It is used by financial service providers in particular.

With DeinAdieu, an organisation with a total revenue of up to two million francs will pay at least 1900 francs per year. Like with Allianz für das Gemeinwohl, the prices are based on the organisation’s total proceeds but the prices are staggered differently.

Summary

As well as price and online visibility, we need to decide which services are useful to an organisation. Each organisation may be interested in a different solution. The comparison demonstrates that the Swiss market leader, DeinAdieu, offers the most services. The comparatively high number of 200 platform subscribers also shows that the DeinAdieu services are used by the majority of the organisations.
